Erin Hannigan
“I dream of a Dallas that is no-kill; a city that doesn’t euthanize its healthy pets just because they have no home to which they can go.”
Erin Hannigan is the principal oboist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and a celebrated soloist who has performed with leading orchestras across the country, including the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony. A graduate of Oberlin and Eastman, she also teaches at SMU and will join Rice University’s faculty in 2025. Beyond her musical achievements, Erin is a passionate animal advocate. She co-founded the nonprofit Artists for Animals and created the annual Concert for Kindness, which has raised over $450,000 for animal rescue groups. Her dedication to both music and animal welfare earned her the Ford Award for Excellence in Community Service.
