Adopting homeless animals is one of the biggest joys of my life. My most profound example was when I found a homeless dog on the streets of Puerto Rico, I named him Taco- he was aggressive, skittish and bitter as he needed to survive harsh treatment and conditions. But after consistent love and patience, he became what I think all rescue animals become and that is eternally grateful, loyal and abundantly loving. He lived until 19! I tell the story of Taco because people need to know that although some homeless animals are understandably scarred emotionally, with patience and love they learn to trust and love again and TRULY make the best family members you could ever dream of!
