See what Bob Baffert is up to:
“I’ve always tried to do what’s best for the horse, and that means treating them with care and respect every day. The health and well-being of the horse is the most important thing. You can’t win races if your horses aren’t healthy and happy. Retiring a horse properly is just as important as training them to run. They deserve a good life after racing.”
Bob Baffert was born in 1953 in Nogales, Arizona, is a renowned thoroughbred racehorse trainer known for training two Triple Crown winners, American Pharoah and Justify, and for his multiple Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont, and Breeders’ Cup victories. With a background as a jockey and a degree in race track industry studies, he transitioned from training Quarter Horses to Thoroughbreds in the early 1990s, quickly rising to prominence. Beyond his racing success, Baffert actively supports Thoroughbred aftercare organizations like the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, Old Friends, and CARMA, which focus on retraining, rehoming, and providing lifetime care for retired racehorses. Through his advocacy, he highlights the importance of giving these horses meaningful lives beyond the track, promoting responsible care and long-term protection.
