proceeds to Guilford County Animal Services to help
support the animals in their care.

What: We will observe Remember Me Thursday on September 24th, 2026 here at the Michiana Humane Society. It will be our 13th anniversary of this beautiful event. You are invited to dedicate candles in memory of your pets who are no longer here.
On the fourth Thursday of September, people gather all over the world to remember beloved pets who have died, and shelter animals who never found loving homes.
Remember Me Thursday is free to all. Children and leashed pets are welcome.
We will have a “decorating table” available beginning at 5:30pm CT. If you want to put photos, drawings, or messages on your luminarias, you may come into the shelter to pick up bags before September 23rd. They will also be available the night of the event.
The shelter will be open to the public prior to the ceremony and briefly afterward. The traditional ceremony begins at 6:30pm CT, with a few words then the lighting of the luminarias. We will leave them glowing until the sun has gone down, so that everyone can have a quiet period to remember their pets.

Help us shine a light on the pets at the Sullivan pound waiting for homes! On September 24, you can join us for a short candle-lighting ceremony at the pound around 7 p.m. to raise awareness for all orphan pets looking for homes now and honor those that didn’t get that chance. Bring your own candles or we will have some on hand.
Come out earlier at 5:30 to visit with the pets waiting for homes.

is an event in honor of
ORPHANED PETS WHO DID NOT MAKE IT OUT OF SHELTERS, AND NEVER GOT THEIR FUREVER HOMES, AND THOSE WAITING AT RAINBOW BRIDGE.
We light candles to honor those pets and show them that someone DOES care.
We also honor all pets who have crossed to Rainbow Bridge, and those that still wait at Shelters and Pounds for rescue, adoptions, and a FUREVER HOME.
The first year we had this candle lighting ceremony at the sanctuary a MIRACLE occurred – when we were posting pictures of this event – there were globes floating all around the sanctuary and inside those globes were pictures of dog and cats faces. It was a TOTAL shock to all of us. The SECOND year out of 12 different cameras and phones – there were even MORE globes. Let’s keep this going – we are blessed that they visit. We are hoping more floating globes show up again because it gave us all a sense of peace that WE were being watched and they chose this sanctuary to visit on this special night.
LET’S LIGHT UP THE WORLD FOR ORPHANED PETS AND THOSE WAITING AT RAINBOW BRIDGE,AND ALL WAITING TO BE SAVED.
Save the date and please join us in the front parking area of the sanctuary. FROM 7 PM to 9:30 PM.
